What would Bobby Do... if he couldn't log onto Playvybz?

When I logged on to listen to Elliot Kay at Playvybz internet radio station this evening, there was no sound! And I had my What would Bobby Do slot at 9.30pm. So what would I do...

Well I phoned the man himself, THE Coach with a Hat, to find out there are some streaming issues today. I suggested they let people in the chat room know too, to avoid confusion - and give me a call if he needs me later on.

Well that's what I did for the show this week... if I get a call in the next half hour, I will let you know what else I did.

But till next week, if you're ever stuck or wondering what to do, just ask "What Would Bobby Do?" and you'd be amazed at how many options you'll get streamed to you live from the 'ether' or wherever you believe. Yes, I use it myself too!

10 Words to Delete from Your Vocabulary

"Words are powerful because they shape our thoughts, determine our actions, and chart the course of our lives. This is true whether the words are positive, giving hope and encouragement, or negative utterances that steal our joy and confidence.

Wherever we are in our lives, personal relationships, or careers, the words we have used consistently are partly responsible.

This fact should prompt us to become more aware of our words, and when needed, to change them so that we can begin to get the results we really desire.

Recently, during a particularly challenging period, I discovered that I was using some of the following words far too often to get the favorable results I sought.

1. Can't
The use of this word is primarily responsible for countless hopes and dreams lying dormant on the "drawing boards" of our lives. Completely eliminate your use of this word and you will see a significant positive change in your life.

2. But
When used as a conjunction, "but" negates whatever statement that precedes it." I want to study law, but it will take a lot of hard work." Your mind does not focus on your desire to become a lawyer or judge; it only sees the hard work you will need to perform. Replace "but" with "and."

3. Should
Any statement that uses the word "should" generally elicits guilt. "I should go to the gym," makes you feel guilty for not going. Replace this word with "choose," as in, "I choose to go to the gym, or I choose not to go to the gym today."

4. Maybe
This word indicates indecision, doubt, or uncertainty as to a course of action. For example, "Maybe I'd better wait to..."

For those of us interested in personal development, "maybe" should be used very sparingly. Use "I will" or "I will not" instead of maybe. The mere sound of the more positive words emits feelings of confidence and resolve which are so important to our personal well-being.

5. Soon or Later
Both are indefinite references to time. They are also non-committal. They should be replaced with a definite time and date. When someone tells you he or she is going to do something "soon" or "later," there is no way to determine when whatever it is will get done. Imagine what could happen to deadlines and your integrity when these words are used frequently.

6. Someday
Someday, like soon or later, is much too indefinite, and when it is used, it shows the same lack of commitment. Replace "someday" with a specific date and time.

7. Never
This word is absolute, and there are only limited situations when "never" is absolutely true. The use of this word, in my opinion, suggests a closed mind, which seriously hinders our self-growth efforts. The word "never" should be replaced with a non-absolute term.

8. Won't
The word "won't" implies an unwillingness, reluctance, or closed mindedness, and like the absolute term "never," it is quite harmful because it closes the door on many of the actions we need to take to reach our goals.

9. If
This is a small word that carries large doubts and uncertainties, and when used often, it gnaws away at our confidence and intended actions, two qualities necessary for any type of success.

10. Try or (I'll Try)
I don't know about you, but each time someone has said these words to me, or the few times that I have used them in conversations with others, whatever the subject of "I'll try" was, rarely, if ever, got done. Replace "I'll try" with "I will."

These words must be given serious thought before we use them in our "self talk" or in the conversations we have with others.

We must remember this: Our words affect our thoughts, our actions, our very lives, and because of their power, we must choose them with the utmost care."

What would Bobby Do... if he was clamped!?

Got up last week and noticed my car keys on the cupboard on the side. I thought it was strange because I'm living in Hammersmith and had been parking at a friend's in Angel, so didn't need the keys - but for some reason they were 'looking' at me.

On my way into central London I decided to go see my friend Isaac instead. Well actually to go to Mikes Quality Fish & Chips in Angel, where the guy behind the counter thought I was joking when I said I'd come all the way across London to eat (having Chai Tea Latte's and panini's all day gets boring after a while.)

Whilst we ate someone had been walking back and forth past his door a few times before we actually went out to see what was going on.

When I approached him, he told me I was illegally parked and had to pay the fine else I'd be towed. Hmmm... Not very friendly!

-----------------

What would Bobby Do?

Instead of getting upset, I told him that I was parked legally as far as I was concerned and there were no signs. He said it didn't matter and pointed to other signs that were just round the corner. So I had to change tact, after all he had a clamp on my car and the next stop was the pound before the crusher - and there was no way he was going to do that to my baby!

I tried the white lie of I just parked here now and can just move it. NO!
Next I asked if there was anything he could do? To which he replied: "I know what you're thinking, even if you offered me £150 to take it off, I can't and won't!" So that idea went out the window.  Staying cool was a challenge with money on the table and a clamp on my car.
Next I asked if he could help me? (and added the puppy dog eyes) To which he told me - whispering as if it was secret: "Write in and appeal and you'll get a refund for the clamp."
I believed him as it seems to make reasonable sense, as most people wouldn't bother to appeal or claim. So his 'company' don't have to deal with them, like a money-back guarantee on a product, where only 1-2% ever ask for their money back. Give it back to avoid the hassle. I then gave him my debit card, fighting back the tears, to get released.
He explained the appeal procedure and said "I know you're not an idiot" to which I told him "Yes, I am - as this has never happened to me before" to which he smiled.

Tips?
- Claim your money back or what is rightly yours if you believe you are 100% right. If you've parked incorrectly or done something wrong AND know it, your defence will be weaker and your lack of confidence will show.
- Don't get emotional over the matter, be detached over the outcome of getting it right. All results serve a purpose, maybe not always the one you expect.
- When dealing with people - be nice. Remember they are just people like you and me - and all they want to do is help if you ask them. Don't get mad, get HELP!
"Can you please help me?" are very powerful words when put together!

Save the emotions for your letter or claim. Ask questions on how they can treat people like that? What you can do to avoid a misunderstanding in the future. And to push it a little more, maybe how to complain above them to get a result if they won't help ;-) They then have to deal with the facts and maybe feel a little bad too (you hope they're human) and want to deal with your matter fairly.

Most people are now confused when I tell them about the nice clamper I met - but they've probably not had that experience, as they've never been nice to someone doing their job - no matter how 'immoral' we may think it is.

----------------------------

I was off to a party in Central London and decied to take my car and move it too. It was then that I realised that I didn't have my keys and could clearly see them on my cupboard! Was I meant to 'listen' to them that morning, pick them up and have moved my car earlier... or would that just be too woo-woo!? At least the timing was good to catch the guy doing it.

Then I had to tube to Hammersmith to get the keys (1 hour) and back to get my car (1 hour).  I turned up at the party 2 hours too late, then proceeded to upset the birthday girl with the truth... but that's a whole different story!

A few of my friends are currently in Malaysia doing the Enlightened Warrior Training Camp and then on their way to enjoy the sun on Pom Pom Island.

I believe in you!

One day a woman's husband died, and on that clear, cold morning, in the warmth of their bedroom, the wife was struck with the pain of learning that sometimes there isn't "anymore". No more hugs, no more special moments to celebrate together, no more phone calls just to chat, no more "just one minute." Sometimes, what we care about the most gets all used up and goes away, never to return before we can say good-bye, say "I love you."

So while we have it, it's best we love it, care for it, fix it when it's broken and heal it when it's sick. This is true for marriage.....And old cars... And children with bad report cards, and dogs with bad hips, and aging parents and grandparents. We keep them because they are worth it, because we are worth it.

Some things we keep -- like a best friend who moved away or a sister-in-law after divorce. There are just some things that make us happy, no matter what.

Life is important, like people we know who are special.. And so, we keep them close!

I received this from someone who thought I was a 'keeper'! Then I sent it to the people I think of in the same way... Now it's your turn to send this to all those people who are "keepers" in your life, including the person who sent it, if you feel that way. Suppose one morning you never wake up, do all your friends know you love them?

I was thinking...I could die today, tomorrow or next week, and I wondered if I had any wounds needing to be healed, friendships that needed rekindling or three words needing to be said.

Let every one of your friends know you love them. Even if you think they don't love you back, you would be amazed at what those three little words and a smile can do. And just in case I'm gone tomorrow.

I LOVE YA!!!

Live today to the fullest because tomorrow is not promised..
