Most Awesome Advice from Jim Rohn

Dont-wish-it-were-easier-wish-you-were-better
1. Review your performance - Always do more than you get paid for to make an investment in your future.
2. Face all your Fears - don't dismiss them, face them and wonder how you can change that.
3. Exercise your Willpower - pick a new destination and go that way. Change a degree at a time or revolutionise the whole thing in a week. Anybody can change, you don't have to repeat the last year, clean up the errors, invest it in next year.
4. Admit your mistakes - sometimes you have to admit them to others, say "I'm sorry"
Admit your mistakes to yourself! No use kidding yourself.
5. Refine your goals - Set some higher goals and reach for a higher purpose.
6. BELIEVE in YOURSELF.
7. Ask for Wisdom - wisdom that creates answers and faith to believe. To deal with the challenges. "Don't wish it was easier, wish you were better."
8. Conserve your Time - How much time do you have left? It's actually how many times do you have left, not years, the answer is just a few...
9. Invest your Profits - Profits are better than wages. Wages make you a living, profits make you a fortune.
10. Protect your Family. Troublesome times, protect them from the hidden dangers and lurking evil.
11. Live with Intensity - Turn it up a notch and invest more of you. Put everything you've got into everything you do and ask for more vitality, strength vigour, heart and soul.
12. Find your Place - in a job find the best place you can serve well. Do the best you can and your life will take great leaps forward. Work on your gifts and they will make room for you.
13. Demand Integrity from Yourself - integrity is like loyalty, can only demand it from yourself not others. Lead the way and attract others.
14. Welcome the Disciplines - disciplines create the reality and build bridges, cities, abundance and productivity.
15. Fight for what's Right - if you want something valuable, you have to fight for it.  THen be able to say "I fought a good fight" and "I kept the faith!"

Why do we keep making the same mistakes?

Great article, thanks to Eloise Ansell of Flourishment for posting this link on facebook.

An exercise that gets people to look at why they repeat the same behaviour over and over again.

Either we need to change our behaviour OR acknowledge that it is what we do and are 'happy' to continue (hence won't complain about it ever again!) At least it gives everyone else some peace and quiet!

The definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results [Einstein]

Bobby :-)

---------------

One question that arises often in practice is “Why do I keep making the same mistakes?”

The question that could trigger us to think outside the box is “How does it serve you to keep making mistakes?” “What is the payoff?”

This requires a pen, paper, and sitting down HONESTLY and writing a list of what you gain from making mistakes or whatever your rut is.

You can make a list for one of your addictions, habits, and/or neediness’ i.e. a behaviour you are driven to do. Identify something that you are compelled to do and cannot stop doing but would like to have a choice to do or not to do.

Then make a list of what you gain from this behaviour. What is the payoff every time you behave in this way.

For example, one client used over-eating as an example. She began to write the list of what she gains by over-eating, such as:“Comfort” “Love”, “Importance”, “Calm” “Relaxation” “Fun”, “Joy”, “Happiness”, “

Once you make your list look at it closely. You can see that the list is a list of what you lack.

Next re-experience your driven behaviour, feel it as though you are doing it right now and then feel everything you gain from it, as in the example: love, comfort, importance. Really live the driven behaviour, how you cannot stop it and then really feel what you gain from the behaviour: such as love, comfort and so forth.

Now you should see that your driven behaviour is dishonest and your addiction-acknowledge this out loud to yourself.

At this point just seeing that our driven behaviours are supplying us with something believe we lack shifts our awareness. We shift from thinking we are just helpless victims of our addictions to seeing that we are fulfilling a goal that undermines us in the end. Of course there are many other goals we have I look forward to hearing the goals you have found that you are addicted to achieving.

Man On Wire is Awe-inspiring!

Have you ever dreamed about something so big and impossible that you scared yourself?

Philippe dreams about walking a wire, not just anywhere but between 2 of the highest buildings at the time, The World Trade Center. A dream that started with the seed of an idea in a dentist's waiting room, years in the making and planning, till that fateful day to realise it.
"On August 7th 1974, a young Frenchman called Philippe Petit stepped out on a wire suspended between New York's twin towers, then the world’s tallest buildings. After dancing on the wire, with no safety net or harness, he was arrested."
It's a movie about a man's dream, aspirations, drive and courage, with a very thin line between life and death. Where the fear would make most of us run a mile, if not across the entire country - this passion drove one man forward to always do what he wanted.

His team were along for the ride and to support him in achieving it. It must have been an exciting adventure that you can only imagine being part of. "The plan was illegal but not wicked or mean" was the justification they all used to allow it to become reality. It just makes you wonder how one man could do this without regard for the consequences - but to him, failure was not even an option, how could it be!
"the tasks they faced seemed virtually insurmountable: they would have to find a way to bypass the WTC's security; to smuggle the wire and rigging equipment into the towers; to suspend the wire between the two towers; to secure the wire at the correct tension to withstand the winds and the swaying of the buildings; to rig it secretly by night – all without being caught. Not to mention the walk itself..."

This documentary shows the amazing build up from wire walking at Paris's Notre Dame Cathedral, then Sydney's Harbour Bridge to the WTC. The friends and team involved and the human dynamics and emotion behind such a stunt. It leaves you wondering if it really was real. I couldn't pull myself away until the end... This film was more awe-inspiring than putting man on the moon. This was a man putting himself in space with just the power of his spirit.

The atmosphere and story-telling is as if you were there. You can feel the passion of the people involved, even thirty years later. It must have been amazing to have been a part of something so unbelievable and impossible that someone, somewhere thought it would be a walk in the park.

Do you have a dream that you've not plucked the courage together for yet? Watch this film to see what is possible with the human spirit when you chose to follow your dreams. Start building the foundations to your goals or join someone else's dream because it's better to try something and fail, than not to try and regret it for the rest of your life. Reach deep inside because if one person can do it, so can you. And remember it's teamwork that makes the Dream work!

Unless of course it involves great heights and gravity, then leave it to the professionals OR why not become one. I hear the view is beautiful... and the sky really is the limit. If you want something, nothing is impossible!

Man on Wire is a truly beautiful film and literally breathtaking to watch. An indie film from a British director that doesn't need a Hollywood studio to embellish it, as the truth speaks for itself and creates a unique must see real-life thriller! The best documentary I've seen in ages.

Rent it or get it on DVD from Amazon: Man on Wire

YES Man - should you say Yes?

Is it good to say YES to every opportunity that comes along in life?

This is the only film I've ever been to see at the cinema and left with sticky pants! Nothing to do with the movie, just the waffle and Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey ice cream that exploded in my lap. Anyway...

Based on the book YES Man by Danny Wallace.
"I, Danny Wallace, being of sound mind and body, do hereby write this manifesto for my life. I swear I will be more open to opportunity. I swear I will live my life taking every available chance. I will say Yes to every favour, request, suggestion and invitation. I will swear to say yes where once i would say no."

“Yes Man stars Jim Carrey as Carl Allen, a man who signs up for a self-help program based on one simple principle: say 'yes' to everything...and anything. At first, unleashing the power of yes transforms Carl’s life in amazing and unexpected ways, but he soon discovers that opening up his life to endless possibilities can have its drawbacks."
In the film, Jim Carrey's character always says No and makes excuses not to do anything! A friend suggests he goes to a Yes Seminar - this will scare anyone who's never been to a personal development event but it is hilarious if you have. I nearly jumped up and down in the cinema, lol!
He leaves the seminar with a promise to himself, a covenant to say Yes to every opportunity that comes his way. This actually opens his life up to doing more instead of the same old stuff every day.

It works really well for him and you are just waiting for the catch. It finally comes and in true Hollywood style, he works his way through it, leaving you rooting for the hero of the film. Lots of interesting situations crop up and the majority of them will leave you laughing so hard and wondering if you can out do him.

Should you go and see this film? Do you remember what the man from Del Monte says? He says, Yes! :-)

http://www.youtube.com/v/DL_atleG47A

I've been on a pretty good Yes streak myself for the last year and wouldn't change it for anything. Saying Yes to opportunity opens up whole new world's that would have been left unexplored otherwise. The places I've been, parties I've attended and wonderful people I've met - all because I said Yes, where I may have said no before. Friends who have been on the journey with me and met along the way will testify to this.

I don't indiscriminately say Yes to anything, just what I WANT to do and feels right and/or possibly fun. And it always works out for the best. Though I am going to have to cut back in the New Year, as time constraints mean too many things to do take the focus off being good at fewer things by doing less.

Just say No!?

It's not only about saying Yes over No. After all, your life is all about what you choose to say No to as well. The stone is chiseled and pieces removed, what is left is the finished sculpture. The statue wouldn't be so beautiful if the sculptor didn't know which pieces to take away.

The same applies to your life. Know what to say Yes to and be open-minded and also know that it is okay to say No as well; to things you don't want or need in your life.

Have you ever said No to opportunities that could have put you on a different path? Maybe you should now say YES to Life! Try it - it may be fun and who knows where synchronicity will take you.

You can start by going to watch this film with a couple of friends and having a good night out. The rest of your new life starts with a little Yes!

Is the sun shining behind the clouds?

The sun is still shining behind the clouds

I was having such a great day with the sun shining and happy people to talk to. I'd called some random friends from facebook, with similar interests, like Tony Robbins, who that lived in London. I wanted to give them a free ticket to Akasha. I had no takers, although the conversations were all energetic, positive and a welcome change to what I was used to. Thanks Andrea S :-)

Then a friend called on the phone and she asked why I was so bubbly on a miserable day!? And was I in the same town as her (I was only 2 miles away)!
That was when it was brought to my attention it had been a rainy day, I looked out the car windscreen and she was right - I'd not realised it had been raining most of the day and it did look 'miserable'.

It was cloudy and the sun was nowhere to be seen. Now before I let my mood change, I reminded her that all I'd seen today was the sun! And all she had to do was focus on the gaps between the clouds, then she could see it too.

Your perspective defines the world that you live in. People can look at the same things, hear a sound or feel something and have a completely different viewpoint. The only person in charge of what you experience in this lifetime is YOU! Are you aware of how you live your life every day, or does someone else decide for you?

The sun will always shine and it is the clouds that are just temporary. If we didn't have winter would we enjoy the summer as much?

-------------------------------------

The meaning of life

Here's a cool story I just came across about a 6 year old girl called Meg.

She put her head in her hands and said to me “I just wish I knew more about what life is all about”…

Just imagine the responsibility I felt at that time. I stood there, with a thousand thoughts whirring around amuck inside my mind. I looked through the window and let providence guide me. As I saw the flowers and plants waving gently in the wind, something came to me that would let us both feel more relieved.

“See that plant outside Megan”, I said. “Yes”, she replied happily. “Well as you watch that plant grow, it would start from just a stem and growing leaves as it gets older. It doesn’t know what flower it will be all at once, but all the information for the plant is in the seed, so the plant will always know what to do, but only one leaf at a time”.

The economy today and what it means to you!?

Do you really want to read about the economy at the moment?

People are either 'struggling with problems' or 'dealing with challenges'. How do you describe it? As that is how you will find that it is.

Credit is not now readily available as it was and it is called the credit crunch. Banks are not lending to each other or to individuals. The economy actually needs this at the moment and although it may mean people are suffering, it is necessary for the long term - the party of over-borrowing and throwing money away is now over. Not what anyone wants to hear but it is fact.

Petrol prices are going up, along with home fuel and food costs! All sounds bad so far right?

Everything will get better... There are more opportunities in a re..cess..ion than at any other time. The economic climate is challenging AND it WILL change for the better. It is a matter of sticking it out. There are many ways to get through these tough time, mainly by spending less AND earning more!

SAVE MONEY: Cut back on your travel. Eat less (bonus for your diet!) Reduce your utility bills (contact me to find out more: SAVE money on your bills). Spend less on clothes and luxuries.

EARN MORE: Get a part-time job, some entrepreneurs I know are going back to work to earn more as they know it is only temporary. Earn an extra income with a part-time (or full time) franchise, cheap start up (contact me to find out more: EARN a passive income)

DEBT MANAGEMENT: Are your debts becoming unmanageable? Speak to someone about it. Once again I can recommend someone to you who will be able to deal with your finances and give you more options than struggling through the week, trying to make ends meet and have it affecting your health.

Daniel Latto (Think Tank Group) gave me a great Star Trek quote:
"Ferengi Rule of Acquisition 109: Dignity and an empty sack is worth the sack."
ie. Pride -v- an empty bag, people will settle for an empty bag so that they can save face. Every one does what is right depending on their circumstance, no-one does the wrong thing intentionally. Change your view point and take a look at your finances with a view to surviving over the next few months.

NETWORKING: The positive people and still attending networking events and investing in their educations. Those that do are the few that will succeed. A lot of business is done between people and referrals. Those that are positive and can help you make a difference to your business are those people that will be remembered and still be making money. Look around and see if the peer group around you represents where you want to be going...
(Check out the events to the right of this blog and below in one of the other posts)

MINDSET: Develop a positive mindset and look to the upcoming times as challenges to overcome and know you will come out better and stronger for it. The people you spend your time with are how you are going to turn out, in business and in life. Hang around with positive people with solutions. Those passing out problems should be avoided and that includes the newspapers and TV!

You can't wish away the months, you just have to get through it. Learn the lessons now so you don't have to repeat them in the future and just KNOW that it will all be better.

Well I had to get that off my chest. I'll bring you some good news tomorrow! Just remember the following:

Jim began buying property in 1992 and letting them to students, organising or doing the work on the property himself. The tenants/students all came from the College where Jim worked as a lecturer.

Jim now owns over 75 HMO's / Multi-Lets with over 500 tenants. On top of this he has about 20 houses and flats which are let as single-lets plus several development projects in progress. He keeps on telling himself to stop buying property and consolidate his position, but anybody in the property business will know how difficult it is to stop buying once you have started.

Having left his post as Lecturer, he needed a teaching outlet so began holding small workshops for property investors interested in the HMO side of the business.

Our Deepest Fear. NLP Manchester with Jamie Smart.

Last Tuesday I attended the Manchester NLP and EI Group with Karen S. (whilst she was on Emmerdale Farm at the same time, I didn't know they still made the show, never mind watched it!)
The timing seemed to be just right having completed my NLP certification last week.

Jamie Smart was the guest speaker. He is the founder of Salad, an NLP Institute based in Leicester and is known as one of the UK's most innovative NLP trainers.

He did some changework with a couple of people and discussed a few ideas. For example if you ask anyone how they would choose to feel at any moment, what would you say? Most people would obviously reply with a positive state such as joy or happiness. The thing is, when we're not choosing to feel this, who (or what) is choosing for us? Hmm....

The fact is that we are diamonds, covered in crap and a hard outer surface. The outer surface is who we pretend we are, the crap is who we fear we are and the diamond is who we truly are. When we're doing something we enjoy and is from the heart, we shine as the diamonds that we are - and whenever we drift from this we get further from our true selves.

This quote elegantly sums it up:
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."- Marianne Williamson

Dr John Demartini - On love, life and relationships

A long standing member of the YES Group Martin Boothe passed away and though I didn't really know him, you could feel the love in the air. He was the dance co-ordinator and had worked with many great singers and at UPW with Tony Robbins and the crew. Someone who had touched many lives and will be loved and missed by friends and family alike. My sincerest regards go to everyone who was in his life, especially his wife and daughter.

Just wanted to mention it was great catching up with Natalie M from UPW crew the day before my NLP course started, as she was over from France for a few days. Went into London and spent most of the evening in Victoria actually. Didn't do anything special and it was still lots and lots of fun! :-)
Also got to meet her cousin Charlotte who is a self-classified 'plastic' who likes Dolly Parton (!?) and thinks all 'chavs' should be exterminated... no, really! She's a really nice girl and could do with just meeting and being friends with a few people from different backgrounds, to realise there is more to life than what people think of you. Just be yourself! Which nicely brings me onto...

Dr John Demartini was talking at the YES Group in London on love, life and relationships. If you've never had the opportunity to hear him, what have you been waiting for?

John Demartini presents a captivating blend of science, sociology, history and philosophy, presented in a completely accessible way, to give you a fresh new look at human behavior. He is as entertaining and humorous as he is profound and insightful. His work is the culmination of 34 years of research and study into the practical application of more than 28,000 texts in over 200 different disciplines ranging from psychology, philosophy, metaphysics, theology, neurology and physiology.

I almost had to beg Nicky to let us finish our NLP course early on the Wednesday so we could go and see him. She finally agreed and told me to get off my knees. We took most of the people on the course along, Steve T, Caroline E, Nicky P, Paul C, Chris, Amelia, Eileen, Nawar and Alex.

Karl P's mum, Elaine, also came for the first time in 15 years since her son founded the first YES Group in London and had a blast! I also got a chance to catch up with some friends including Andrea S, Anita L, Vaishali P, Richard, Chris J and Fiona W whose birthday it was and Peter S who had dried off since the soaking I gave him at Wealth Mastery.

John Demartini talked about how men and women differ, men are from apes and women from centipedes (shoe joke).
The fact that it is not possible to fail as we will always do what is in accordance with our values and not neccesarily anyone else's. And the only way to screw up is if you're on the bottom ;-)

We have time, money and energy for those things and people that are important in our lives. When a partner's values are different, you need to look at how those different values still contribute to your life and allow you to do the things you love. Only then can you truly appreciate the one that you are with.

Everyone has different values and expecting them to change is as if someone was to come and ask you to CHANGE to honour their values more instead of yours.
Having to accept someone for who they are and be willing to let them go if you cannot find some common ground. To put someone on a pedestal and be infatuated is to belittle ourselves and to look down on someone and put them in the dog house does not make us better!

How we attract into our lives the things that we need most and challenge us. Even all the great things we look in a partner can be found in the people around us, just not in one package. And as we wonder about look for the one, we then find them and wonder about the many.
After all, we can only see in others what already exists in us. And these traits will manifest themselves in people until we deal with it and accept it.
"Until we learn the lessons, we are doomed to make the same mistakes again and again."

I went to talk with him afterwards and to ask for a picture and all I could say was thank you for such a wonderful talk and how we appreciated him taking the time to come and talk to us. He has such an aura about him and a presence that you feel.

The biggest message that I took away was to just say "Thank you and I love you!" to everyone in your life. Even those that you think have challenged you along your journey.

I prayed as I drove home. To get in touch with my spiritual side you ask?
Nope, I'd got lost in London yet again (after my GPS had fun with me in Soho last weekend) and I was also running on vapour, as I'd not passed a petrol station.

You'd be amazed how far faith can get you when running on empty! ;-)

Certified NLP Practitioner and coaching

Contact me now to find out more... as I'm offering free 1 hour sessions to a select few over the next month.

I attended a NLP Practitioner course to get certified, with trainers Nicky Pool, Paul Crick and Chris through The Positive Learning Practice
There was 1 week of pre-study and a full on week with 70 hours of classroom and practical to integrate everything we were learning and around 25-30 hours home play. Now that's an accelerated learning program!

The people on the course were the best who will be friends for life. They wanted to improve their lives, whilst sharing and contributing to those around them by learning new skills. It was a challenging week and worth every moment. We laughed, cried, pushed the limits, sweated and then laughed some more :-) Steve has a great anchor on his right arm that will remind him of a fun week for the rest of his life...

What is NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) you're asking?
My definition of NLP is the use of language to get positive results. It bridges the gap between the mind and body and the conscious and (sub) unconscious to get the outcome you desire. This is done by modelling excellence and using techniques to apply it and integrate it into your life. By using language positively and literally changing your mind about the way it thinks about things that were previously an issue. You can think of NLP as a user's manual for the brain.
NLP is a form of counselling using an interpersonal communication model and an alternative approach to psychotherapy. Some consider NLP to still be a set of techniques or strategies for enhancing communication and personal influence rather than a model. More about NLP at wikipedia

Using techniques such as the Milton Model and Meta Model, Reframing, Phobia Models, Anchoring, Swish Patterns and Time Based Therapy it is possible to change your perception of problems, challenges and events in your life - even if you have had issues for years. It is about getting results by seeing things from a different perspective and understanding that anything is possible and within your reach, no matter how big you believe it to be. Getting to be at cause and away from effect is the only way to take back control of your life.
Whether it be stopping smoking, going to the gym more, giving up unhealthy foods, overcoming fears and getting rid of phobias, personal problems you've had for years, dealing with depression, events in the past that left you with more baggage than you want to carry any more. If you want to change, you can!

Many people see psychiatrists for years with issues and just talk about it. Others just read books and don't apply the ideas. Why not go see someone and deal with it? How much better do you think you will feel being able to walk out and get on with your life... Living it the way you want and on your terms!

What did I personally deal with during the training?
Techniques on how to handle pain. The fear of public speaking. A phobia of cockroaches and insects. How to dissolve feelings of anger, sadness, fear and guilt in your life using time based techniques. I've even got rid of burgers and pizza from my diet - and I did like my pizza!!

How can I help you?
I specialise in property, business and life in general. My mentors in personal excellence are Tony Robbins, Chris Howard, Topher Morrison. In property I look up to people like Donald Trump and professional UK investors. In business there is Brad Sugars, Roger Hamilton and Richard Branson. In life Bob Proctor, Wayne Dyer and John Demartini to name just a few.

I can help you by finding out what your unique model of the world is, getting rid of limiting beliefs and integrating models of excellence. Enabling you to overcome challenges you are dealing with and getting the fantastic results that you want.

We all use NLP in our lives already, you just don't know it. The choice you do have to make is are you going to carry on getting the same outcome in life or live the fabulous life you've always desired and deserve?
"Until you are prepared to learn the lessons, you are destined to repeat the same mistakes over and over again..."
