How To Have Better Luck This Month / Year

Well as the New Year is upon us, many will be reflecting on the past and thinking about their hopes for the future.  Too many people will be looking back and thinking what they didn't achieve, do or make happen last year and feel disappointed.

It is all a matter of perspective though. Do you really want to think about what went 'wrong'!?

What if you focus on what you DID achieve, do and make happen?
Wouldn't you then be grateful for everything instead...

This is something that Dr John Demartini posted that you should read carefully and meditate upon.
"As you reflect on 2015, think about what you have accomplished during the course of this year. It is wise to think of what you have achieved in the different areas of your life.

Exercise:
1. Spiritually what have you achieved?
2. Vocationally what have you achieved?
3. Mentally what have you achieved?
4. Financially what have you achieved?
5. Familial what have you achieved?
6. Physically what have you achieved?
7. Socially what have you achieved?"

Do you now see how successful your year actually was? The great things that DID happen and achievements that make you happy when you think about them.

Let's talk about NOW! Note how this post is title "How To Have Better Luck THIS Month"
People tend to make plans for the future, then when it is time to do something, they fail to take the right actions. How familiar does this sound... "Tomorrow (next week/month) I will do X"?
I used to be a first class procrastinator, so I know from experience. How does "Now I will do X" feel?

Also 'luck' is a completely different subject which I'll cover another time - for now you'll just have to create it with some decisions, commitment and a little work.

Instead, ask yourself if what you are doing today is getting you closer to where you want to be tomorrow. The actions don't have to be huge or drastic, they just need to be in alignment with what you really want.

Of course it's good to make plans for the future to know where you're going but you need to take the right steps regularly as well.  So if there is something you want to achieve, why not START today...

Let's look at 3 areas that people are usually concerned about and the language they use.

- Health
- "I want to lose weight" or "I want to get fit"
Is that what they really mean? Do they believe if they lose x lbs/kgs they will be happier?
Do they see 'fit' as the (fake) or extremely 'perfect' people on TV and magazines?
Maybe thinking about it as "I want to be healthy" would be better...
This way the focus is on a healthy lifestyle and if you're overweight, your body knows what it's ideal weight is (not a 'right' weight from a textbook) and will get back there, as long as you work with it, instead of eating crap food and excess calories for the sake of it.

- How about... "I want to quit drinking" or "I want to stop eating so much junk food"
This time it is about stopping something, which is probably now a habit on auto-pilot. Society, family and you have trained yourself to make this something that you just do without even thinking most of the time.
It's simple to make the decision not to eat the wrong foods - but it isn't necessarily easy when that's what you're used to. Also the habit needs to be replaced with something else, something that is beneficial and will do you good.

Maybe rephrase it as "I want to start drinking more water and fresh juice" and "I want to eat healthier foods".   When you've decided this is what you want to do instead, commit to it!
Don't say "I'll just finish this off first though."  Take action and either give away the alcohol (to friends) and fizzy drinks, biscuits and other poor food choices, lying around the kitchen, to a charity. Or simply pour it down the sink and throw it in the bin. You don't have to finish it (as you eating it won't benefit those 'starving people' with any twisted logic or justification you can dream up.)

Remember you've not started on your new path until you're moving off the old one.
You can eat crap sometimes later, if you want - but give yourself a fighting chance by avoiding it altogether for at least a couple of weeks!
When I stopped drinking around 8 years ago, I used to go out with my student and work friends 3-4 times a week.  During my first 2 weeks of tee-total (and vegetarian) they tested me and gave me so much grief and pressure to conform to my (their) old habits. But I persevered and won and felt better for it. I do occasionally drink now and eat meat but the difference is that I don't need to and it doesn't control my food choices.  I committed and stuck with my plan, regardless of outside temptations. It was a test of will-power but you CAN do whatever it is that you really want to achieve.

- Wealth
- "I want to make more money"
Will making more money make you happier? Will it ease your financial burdens or will you just spend more on stuff that you don't really need?
Maybe say "I want to utilise money smarter". This could mean looking at your expenditure and reducing any waste. Cancel the Direct Debits for subscriptions you don't need or use that much. Find a cheaper insurance company and utility supplier.  Don't waste as much money on crap you don't need but just wanted one day.  You'll find you'll end up with more money.
Of course you can also look at ways to make more money as well - but if you've not reduced your costs where you can save it today - you may find your bad habits spend/waste any extra you would earn as well.

- Relationships
- "I need to find a partner who will love me."
Do you really need someone else to be loved? Of course it's great to be appreciated by others but if you have low self-worth, lack confidence and don't really love yourself, finding a partner to fill that gap will only be a temporary fix.
How about a mantra of "I am worthy of love" and "I am enough as I am"
"I am going to be more confident" - find out how you can be more confident in life and happy being with yourself. You will then also become more attractive to others, as they will see you are love and happy - and who doesn't like to be around those kinds of people!? You know when you're around someone like this as you feel good about yourself too.  You don't need someone else to be love - but once you find love within yourself, you will find it around you too.
(Of course this is a deeper topic, I just wanted to touch upon it here to give you another perspective if you'd not considered it before).

How could you rephrase what you think about these areas and others that you want to see improvements in?  Can you change the words you use, so they make more sense, have more impact and are easier to achieve?

Once you've done that, you also need to get started on making things happen.

- Commitment
First you need to decide your new goals that you want to take action and make a commitment to actually DO things differently.  To tell people publicly is a sign to show the world that you are actually serious about the new cause and activities you are going to embark upon.
This leads into the next step...

- Accountability
After deciding and committing to a course of action, you need to make sure you actually do it and take steps towards your goals. You can reach your goals without this but what better way than for someone to ask you regularly how you are getting on?
To be held accountable, tell a friend (who won't let you off easily) and trusts that you will do what you say. They will keep you on track and support you in making sure you honour your word (commitment).

- Honesty
You have to be honest with yourself and your accountability partner.
What do you have to gain by lying to yourself about what you want or are prepared to do? If your heart isn't in it, simply don't commit to it. You'll only end up feeling bad when you don't do what you said you would.
Also why lie to someone who you've asked to help you stay on track.  The whole point of accountability is to be held responsible to your commitments.

If you're unable or unwilling to be honest, then this is something you really need to work on.
Too many people, lie too often and think it is inconsequential. It is not!
Your character is built on what you say, mean and is true.
Actions speak louder than words anyway - and if you lie, you will not be congruent and out of alignment with yourself and life.  Don't live a fraudulent life but an honest one.
Maybe this could be the one thing that makes you luckier and changes your life drastically this year?

Now you may need need some new strategies to achieve the goals you've committed to.
You might already have strategies to get to your goals.
Ask yourself, have they worked for you in the past?
Do you believe they are the only way to do it?
Some people are only interested in doing things 'their way' and what they already know. They don't like to find out more or do things a different way. Others don't like to ask for help or accept it - they'd rather remain 'stuck' than do and get what they say they really want.

Why not find someone who has the results you want and ask them how they achieved it.
Wouldn't it be simpler to do it by following their strategies?
Seek out a coach or mentor. There are people that love to help others, as it makes them feel good about themselves, valued and they are also making your life better and the world a better place.
You just have to be vulnerable, share your challenges and ASK for help.

Joining the gym in January and quitting in February might not be working for you.
Getting a personal trainer instead, to hold you accountable as well, would be a better solution.

Of course if you decide what you said you wanted to do changes - or you don't want to do it anymore, then that's OK too. It's not failure if you decide you want to do something else instead or you don't really value what you thought you did. Other things might be more important to you and trying something new will show you what you do and don't value in life.

Remember change is simple, although it might not always be easy.
You know what you want to do, the next step is doing it consistently.

Take The Correct Actions AND Do Them Often To Create New Beneficial Habits!

I've coached and worked with people and entrepreneurs, who started off on one path but then decided they didn't want to continue, it was too much hard work or they wanted to do something else instead.
That's fine! It's your life and you can do whatever you want to. No-one should decide your goals or force you to do something you really don't want to. Of course sometimes it's worth persevering but it's always YOUR choice!  People should love you and accept you as you are!

Send me a message to let me know what you're committing to and I'll even check in regularly to see how you're getting along if you want. It doesn't matter what area of your life you want to improve, it always helps to have someone supportive hold you accountable to doing what you say.

Well this was a stream of consciousness that I typed up, then tried to structure so it was easy to read. Forgive me if I go off on tangents - if you know me though, I usually do but everything has a point in the end!

I hope this has been useful and if you want to make a public commitment to do something, then do so.  Post it on Facebook/Twitter and tell people that you know.  Or send me a message if I can support you in any other way.

Let's make this day/week/month/year a most excellent one!

Real simple secrets to getting coaching clients that experts don't tell you!

By the way, this started as a short post but turned into a conversation (with myself) so I'd recommend reading to the end if you really want to know the whole truth.

(Sidenote: This took me around 3 hours to write and edit for you, in which time I could have almost authored a book!)

There's no squeeze box to get these golden nuggets. I was going to share privately or just leave it as another unshared passing 'genius thought' in my head - but what's the point of having a blog if you can't share the good stuff that will help people!?

Right. Are you sitting comfortably? Then let's begin.

Having been out of the picture for the last couple of years, due to my own life going to shit (literally), I'm now on the mend and want to start doing what I used to; which is helping people by sharing the energy and love that we have within us.  Then I thought why not just start coaching again!

A not so long time ago (like the beginning of this week), I simply just got started again doing what I love.
And it's been Awesome so far, as it has also helped me increase my energy, creativity, thoughts and life, whilst giving others what they need/want, which is hope, clarity and help. It also gets me out of my 'story' and thinking about my part in their growing stories (a shared vision).

So, a friend asked how I'd managed to get 4 coaching clients this week, like I had a secret strategy.
So I wondered how I could 'fluff' it up so he'd believe me (like building the tension in this post now), then I thought to myself "Do I really need to make it sound secret, ground-breaking or amazing?" (Now that is what people have been taught to expect by marketers, salesmen, media and mind manipulators.)  The answer was no, keep it simple and say it as it is.
K.I.S.S. = Keep It Simple Sexy!

The honest and truthful way is often the easiest, by also making it simple as well.
Does someone really need to sell you loads of books, ram it down your throat through a motivational presentation; sell you hundreds/thousands of pounds of products for you to 'GET' what the right thing to do in life is?
Do you really need to go to lots of events to find that spark of inspiration that lies within you already, is already lit and waiting to burn brightly?
(I say already lit, as if it wasn't you'd not be here right now).

The media has confused people intentionally and the real thought leaders pushed aside for trashy pop-stars, celebrities and those that are only famous for being famous (or public screw-ups). The lifestyle and 'cribs' of the rich and glamourous (who have been touched up by photoshop to look that way) has been put on view for you to aspire to. Is that really what you (or they) really wanted? You can tell from their behaviour that many are screaming out for help and 'peace of mind'.

[littleVoice]OK, get back on topic Bobby, everyone loves a good, engaging story but you did have a point didn't you!?[/littleVoice]

Here's the simple answer I gave my friend, to the question "how did you get the clients."
(I will 'fluff' it up a little so you get the background as well)

-  I have always been honest, truthful and helped people in the past.
It didn't matter who it was or why. I've had 2 hour conversations with people, where I got the coffee, they got their notebook out and I answered all their questions. At the end they've asked, "Oh… and is there anything I can help you with?"  The answer was usually always the same, "I'm good thanks."  Those people that 'get' life, understood. Those that didn't always felt a little confused and like they'd 'taken' from me.
The truth is, I don't remember the names of a lot of these people and it's not important, as anything good that happens to you and 'repayment' from the Universe comes from right angles. Thanks to Roger Hamilton (creator of wealth dynamics) for that lesson.
To make it clearer - no matter who you help; your repayment, karma, help, will come from another source that is out of your vision at the time.

-  Getting back to this 'energy' of giving unconditionally (as mentioned above) is key.

Also having been 'around the block' of life, it feels like many times over, I got to learn, grow and help in various areas.  Be it engineering, web design, property investing, stock trading (poorly, it's not for me), internet marketing, legalese, dealing with corporations, events management, health, fitness etc… Yep, you're probably thinking you only knew I did one of these things - or 'none' of these things as I have a 'lazy/efficient' reputation to keep ;-)

People ask what I specialise in and what my niche is. Yes, Harry Singha (Youth Coaching Academy) keeps asking what I do; Daniel Priestley discusses KPI (Key Person Of Influence).
Everyone goes on about how to not go an inch deep and a mile wide, but an inch wide and a MILE DEEP in a subject and niche. They are absolutely right (and wrong at the same time). Let me explain, there are many goals in life for people and many ways to get to those goals. You need to pick what works for you.

Well I know who I am and what I do now. I'm a half mile deep 'Generalist'.

As a generalist I have knowledge of 'content' (information) and an increased awareness of 'context' (a view of the bigger picture and how the information can be applied in a wider field).
I usually see the end vision of what is possible but I'll only 'release' it a piece at a time in bite sized chunks, whilst sharing a mid-point goal. This helps others see where something is headed without being overwhelmed with what the 'impossible dream' at the end could look like.
Dr John Demartini is a great guy to listen to if you ever want your mind massively expanding in a short time-frame!

Being a Leading Learner, I love to learn about everything, life, people, various topics, different subjects. If someone mentions something, I tell them what will help them with their challenge. Most of the time I refer them elsewhere, as my work is done and I save my time to just chill and hang out (I need to do more of that!)
Other times I help out personally and simply synthesise things I've learned and help them apply it to their specific problem.
There are times when people discuss a subject I know nothing about - so if I have an interest (I'm generally interested in most things), I'll go and find out more.

That is why I like reading and editing friends' manuscripts before print (as I learn more about them, their life and new topics). It doesn't feel like work but more like 'educational fun'. Yes I'm a writer (can't you tell) but not an author yet.
Hey Mindy Gibbins-Klein (The Book Midwife), I'm not trying to put you out of business, I do point people your way as well; to get their book written, properly formatted and published ;-)

-  As well as being open and honest about your thoughts and feelings about general topics, also share your personal life with people, the good time, the fun times and (some) of the bad times if you're feeling up to being vulnerable.

-  By helping, sharing and being this way, three things happen - people get to know you, (may) start to like you and will then even trust you.

This does not need to be 'engineered', just be AUTHENTIC!
Be yourself, honest, truthful, let people know your values, character and what you stand for - and always do the right thing whenever possible.
There will then be those that will then get to know the 'real you', like you for being yourself and trust you if you've shown traits of being a decent, honest, trustworthy human being.
Of course there will be those that dislike you, as your ideas will conflict with their values of hidden dishonesty and corporate mentality - but don't worry about them, their time will come to change their minds too!

Also, there is no competition, absolutely zero competition, for YOUR coaching clients!
Why? Well if you're authentic and your awesome self, there is nobody like you. If you try to copy others… well you're just a poor carbon clone.
If YOUR friends read this post, they will still LIKE you more than me.
Mine will have a preference to hang out with me instead.
There is no you -v- me -v- them.
That is a mind parasite planted by those that live in lack.
It just takes a little time to finally accept it but once you do, everyone else is a friend or collaborator.  Do you think Tony Robbins worries about people trying to be him!?

OK, back to my friend's question...
-------------
Their question (verbatim): Care to share your strategy?
My simple answer: I only sent it [application] to a few Facebook friends that expressed interest in coaching. Of the 8 invitations sent, 4 followed through with the application as they know & trust me already.

Yep, that was my simple strategy.
(Backed up by my character, value, integrity etc. that they already knew about)
--------------

-  So, to get more (four) clients, I just put it out there (on Facebook) that I was looking to have a conversation with some people and help them with their businesses, no obligation.
I knew (generally speaking) that mainly people that already know, like and trust me would say yes.
They know already that I can help them (somehow), they like me (enough to want to talk to me) and trust me (enough to believe me about the 'no obligation').
Around 10 or so people contacted me in total so far and four (maybe five at time of writing) followed through.

-  Make it clear what kind of people you want to work with.
This is what I posted on Facebook, when I still had space for a couple more people:

"I've got time for 2 more coaching clients to help you with your business plan.
If you know, like & trust me already - you will know exactly how I can help you.
If not contact me for more info and I'll answer all your questions.
My ideal client has at least one of the following:
1) A published book or a book in progress/being written
2) An existing business or start-up draft business plan ready-to-go (be it shop, internet or property based - but not MLM)
To answer your first questions that come to mind:
a) Is it free? No
b) Is it affordable? Definitely
c) Can you quit/cancel at any time? Of course
I'd also prefer applications to be from people that I actually know, like & trust as well (you will know if that applies to you).
If you're interested and want to get started, contact me right away and send me a PM for more details.
P.S. When I say TWO more places, I mean it.
I don't do B.S. marketing/sales pitches or use fake scarcity tactics.
Keeping it real & authentic :-) "

You see how clear it is on what I do want to do and what I don't?
I also made it clear about the 'money' question, as I don't want to be having people asking about just that or looking for 'quotes'.
It will also attract those that it resonates with and hopefully get rid of the time-wasters and those looking to just get something for nothing (you know the type).

-  Learn to say NO.
If you don't think you'll be able to work with someone, refer them to somebody they will suit.
I also have to be careful, for the sake of my sanity and reputation, that I did not take on anyone that may conflict with the interests of my current clients in any way.
This is only an issue in the 'property education' niche at the moment and I appreciate the approach from those that have contacted me so far - this may of course change in the next 6 months if I come up with a mutually beneficial plan for everyone involved.

-  So how did I convince them to stay on as a client?
Well that was easy too, I didn't try to convince them of anything. What, I hear you say!?
Heck, these are my friends and I would help them for free anyway! I didn't need them as clients to force my help on them (just kidding, genuine tip: NEVER try to force help on people, they will not like you for it!)
We just had around a 1 hour discussion about what they could do to make changes to their business - various pricing strategies and improvements to what they were already doing well.
I then put a summary together on what they needed to action immediately, what a month's goals would be and then a longer term stretch goal. They knew most of this but may not have had timeframes on getting these things done.

[image teamwork makes the dream work]
Even the 'un-coachable' client was "ready to get it done" after we'd finished talking.
Now why would I take on an 'un-coachable' client? Or even worse publicly mention it, in case they read it?
Well they're just like ME! We are both people that aren't easy to coach or be told what to do. We may ignore good advice because we 'know it' anyway and accept that we can't be arsed at times. Yet there are other times, when no-one needs to tell us what to do and we will do it anyway (and some) and keep going to make big things happen. Also we know that teamwork makes the dream work. And even if we don't reach that dream, we'll get half way there and the journey will be fun.
Once we'd agreed that it was in both our interests to make this happen, we had an outcome we'd work towards - taking out the 'coaching' aspect of it.

Also being openly lazy (efficient) - I don't like to spend more time on 'work' than necessary. So I opted for a mentoring model for the coaching, which simply means I won't try to 'draw out the answers from them', there will be times when I just say: "these are my ideas, are we good to go with them or do you want to add something else or do it differently?"

This harks back to my 'informal' coaching days, when problems were fixed over a drink/coffee in half an hour, then we could enjoy the rest of our 'catch up' and just hang out.  Whoever thought coaching needs to be 'by the hour' and billed as such really needs to get out of the employee mindset and be shot! (with some chill-out serum)

Even though I am a Supporter profile and blaze energy, I can run around the Wealth Dynamics profile all day long (see it helps to be a generalist) and as long as I am supporting others, I can do anything in the other quadrants pretty well. If I can't (or don't want to) I always know someone who can.

-  Be clear on your 'value' and 'terms'.
We (I) are always thinking we're not good enough and working our way with self-worth challenges.
I tell my friends/clients and now you as well, value yourself more and others will too. Yep, I'm stepping up as well.
Make things mutually beneficial! Many coaches get into coaching because they want to help people but forget that it(they) should be valued too. Money is the standard form of value exchange we all understand and respect.

It's not always about the money though. If you can be clear on what terms work best for you, then communicate that and it is still a "win-win" situation when you're helping someone with their business and to earn more money.

Also a couple of the friends/clients wanted to refer people to me but I had to decline.

Here is the conversation on my genuine reasons why:

Them: "Meanwhile, I may recommend you to some other people along the way who may need a new coach. Nice one"
Me: "OK, sounds good. Let's see how it goes over the next 4 weeks then. Also please ONLY recommend me to people I already know, as I'm more likely to make time for them then. Others, let me know so I can check them out first. In business we can't always be choosy; in life we CAN ;-)"
Them: "Refreshing attitude, but I respect and admire it. Let's see how [they] gets on with the Coach I've already suggested. But if I do recommend you to anyone else… No other reason than I want the best for my friends."
Me: I completely understand. It's just… I can only commit so much time. Also I knew my coaching/mentoring would end up taking on a more intensive role. So I want to dedicate my time to serving you and the 4 other friends/clients as well."

Yes I have a big capacity and energy to take on more - but I have finite time and focus.

I have a permanent position working for one of the best property investment educators in the UK, Simon Zutshi. This takes up most of my time.
I'm also that good and efficient that I can support my team, get stuff done well and quickly, whilst still having energy to spare.
I just wanted some variety and to help some of my friends out at the same time, who may be currently blocking their BIGGER success, that is long overdue to them and they deserve! I have made the coaching/mentoring relationship clear as well - I'm not there to be their fun 'friend' on sessions.

-  I've also learned to say NO, sometimes you just can't help everyone. Be polite and refer them elsewhere. You may not get along with them or be able to get excited about their projects. There's nothing wrong with that, you can't please all of the people all of the time - I've learned that lesson by trying to! Some would call it a fail, the enlightened ones would call it a 'learning opportunity'. Know when to quit and not repeat actions that don't serve you or the other person.

----------------
So what's the key to success and getting more clients?
You don't need more, you just need ONE (another one).
----------------

Here are the "Real simple secrets to getting coaching clients that experts don't tell you"

So the process is simple:
-  Do good work, be a good person, be honest, put value out into the Universe all the time without an expectation of return.
-  Define your ideal client.
-  Put the offer to people you already know.
-  I then have a simple form for them to fill in and a small token payment to review their business plan.
(As they're friends I'd do it for free (for love) for them anyway, I just want them to value it as well. The payment creates that energy exchange of value.)
-  On the first session, give them all the info and ideas you can think of and can come up with.
-  Be clear on your 'value' and 'terms' to continue - make it mutually beneficial so it's simple for them to decide.

Oh I remember why I wrote this post now. I was driving back from the gym and has another great idea for one of my clients/friends.
By taking on fewer clients, you can concentrate your energy and thought processes. The ideas start to cross-pollinate.
You will come up with great ideas specific to the person you are thinking about at the time.
You can create a bigger and more specific change for fewer people, than if you tried to for many people. It pays to be focused with your time and energy.

Finally, why did people agree to let me help them. Well that's simple too!
People said YES "Because I'm Bobby Gill" (spoken in a "I'm Batman" voice, which you did anyway after seeing the logo!)

Your friends and associates will say Yes to you - because you're uniquely YOU.
Fill in the blank with your name and say it out loud:
"Because I'm ____________"

The Rules for helping people are also simple:
-  Put your energy into helping one person at a time.
-  Add value to their life (and it will add value to yours and everyone else's too!)
-  [repeat]

If you enjoyed this article (inane rambling), please leave a comment and share it.
If you don't want to, that's OK as well, I still love you :-)

Your friend,
Bobby Gill

Communication - Who's Responsible?

'Communication' is derived from the Latin word 'communis', which means 'to make common' and thus 'to make known', the same thing.  So the communication depends on our ability to understand the other person's point of view.
Good communication skills are necessary to creating and maintaining strong friendships, networks and contacts.

When you say something, it includes all your experience and filters.  When the message is received, it is perceived through the experience/filters of the person listening (and through their thoughts and little voice) before it is decoded by them.  You then get a response which shows if your message was received as it had been intended.
It helps if you speak in terms the other person will understand and you can elicit this by asking questions.

For good communication it requires both parties to actively listen, ask questions, answer them and respect the other person's model of the world.

With regards to the communication of the message, is it your responsibility or theirs?
Who is responsible for the perception and decoding?

What are the blocks to communication?
Not listening, not asking questions, not answering questions and forcing your model of the world on the other person.

Sometimes people say they want things but they really don't.  Questions are the best way to find out information. Their responses to questions and actions give them away.  If someone truly wanted something and was willing to accept your help, they'd listen to you and be prepared to give it a go - as it might get them the results they want.  When they won't answer the questions, start making excuses (disguised as reasons), then they are more committed to the way things are than to change.

Also people always know better themselves, from experience and are happier to continue doing what they've always done. It does mean they'll always get what they've got but that doesn't matter as it is easier and right to be that way for them.  They prefer their experience, model and what they 'know' to be true more than being open to any new information.

In practice coaching sessions with others, the instructor might have told you to be a good client - but what happens when someone chooses not to be a good client or prefers to make things hard - is the failing yours or theirs?

Have you ever noticed how family and loved ones and those close to you seem to ignore what you say?
Yet if a stranger comes up and says something you've already mentioned they are more likely to action or believe it.  Of course this only applies once they've established 'some' basic trust with those strangers.

It's not that they don't care, they have just taken you for granted because it is 'you' and that's the way you always are.  The other people and 'strangers' - who they don't know well enough to realise they are humans too and no better (or worse) than you or I.

On a sidenote: I realised a while ago there is no point in helping someone who does not want your help. This decision made life so much easier and should be something that everyone thinks about carefully.

In coaching they say you should 'sack' your clients that don't want to be held accountable and make things difficult.  With family it's not so easy to 'sack' them.

The easier way to deal with these situations is to spend less time discussing matters with those that have taken you for granted.  Then next time you communicate they may value what you have to say more, if they've missed you.
If they don't though, then no worries.  They might eventually 'sack' you if you're lucky!

Do your best to communicate the best way you can and don't take the responsibility for the other people you talk to.  Like dancing it takes two to tango and have a meaningful communication!

Want people to listen? From the example of my friend Silent Bob - it might be best to talk less and only speak when it's important.  Then what you say will have a huge impact!
Jay of course disagrees but he's not a very good listener either.

Below is the amazing letter Harry received recently from his last event in Romania, which encapsulates brilliantly what can be achieved in just one day with this programme. It’s why we want to offer this magical opportunity to as many schools as possible.

Testimonial:
“Dear Mr. Singha,

There are SO MANY THINGS I want to say to you, that I just can’t figure out a proper introduction. So, please forgive me for not respecting the norms of a proper letter. Of course, this is an electronic mail, so, basically, I could just delete or rephrase any sentence I write here to make myself sound as smart and well-educated as I possibly can, but I am not going to do that! My heart speaks while my mind is dictating to my fingers that what they should type, and I would LOVE it if you would grant me about just 5 minutes to read this.

First of all, I would like to introduce myself: Hi! My name is Văştea LucreÅ£ia-Maria, I’m 17 years old and I participated at today’s “Youth Coaching Skills Course” in Åžaguna. Now, you may think I am exaggerating but I assure you that what you are about to read is 100% pure truth. This letter is about how I feel TODAY compared to how I felt yesterday. And you know why? Because today, for the second time in my life, though more intense than the first time, I really feel WONDERFUL!

Dear Mr. Singha.. Harry.. I have waited all my life for somebody to tell me that my goal isn’t unreacheable for me! You see.. I have big plans! Huuuuge plans! -and I have had them ever since I was in diapers. Issue is… they always felt so unreacheable for a normal, dull, small-town girl such as myself. I don’t have a life story.. actually, I do because everybody does, but my life hasn’t been so spectacular so far. My personality is of the introverted type. My insecurity is my biggest problem but I have such big dreams and aiming for such high goals that I always think that they’re impossible to reach. Never felt charismatic enough, never felt good enough, never felt capable of handling the bumpy road to success… NEVER… until today.

Mr. Singha, I don’t know if you’ve seen it or not but you made me cry today. I never felt so confident of myself and I never thought I could actually meet somebody who will tell me absolutely everything I want to hear about my future. It was as if YOU opened tens or hundreds of doors for me! Suddenly, my goal doesn’t seem so impossible anymore. I forgot to breathe as I heard you say that “ the difficult things take time and the impossible ones take just a little longer”, and it made me feel more connected to my dreams than ever! You reminded me of what makes me tick. What makes me special. What makes me shine. What makes me ME! and I just can’t find the right words to thank you properly. I clapped my hands till they hurt but I somehow didn’t feel the need to stop… I felt the tears running down my cheeks and I didn’t feel the need to wipe them off, I smiled through THE WHOLE 8 HOUR COURSE and I wasn’t even aware of the fact that I was doing it until my partner asked me what’s with the dumb look on my face. I know I shouldn’t write to you about this stuff but I want to make it sound as real and honest as possible:

THANK YOU FROM THE VERY BOTTOM OF MY HEART!

But, Sir, I’m going to be honest with you from the start: Many kids told you today that they want to become life coaches. I’m not going to say the same. I do not want to become a professional life coach, BUT! – I will love myself for the rest of my life for coming to your course today. Believe it or not, YOU are the FIRST PERSON in my life that actually made me believe! Yes! I believe! I finally believe in myself! I believe that my goals are achievable and I would love to believe that I will have the opportunity to hear you speak again!!! So can’t wait for the next meeting! Trust me! I am going to be there even if you would ask me “what is your life’s goal?” and I won’t answer “life-coaching”.

May I tell you a short story?! It’s not my life’s story, it’s the story of “what happened an hour ago”.. you see, an hour, after I came home from your course, my mother saw that something isn’t right with my facial expression from the minute she saw me walking through the front door. That’s when she did something she does very rarely: she came to my room and literally asked me to tell her about my day and why I was so happy. I started telling her about everything! I told her about the course, I told her about the notes I took, told her about what I learnt and I most definitely told her about YOU! And still she wasn’t satisfied. She told me that she had never seen me so excited before and that it’s a big surprise for her to see that the melancholy which was my ‘state of being’ was not being present within me. Therefore she asked me again ‘what happened’. That’s when I looked at her and said “Mother… I finally know what I want. That’s what happened. I know where I’m heading. I never saw this coming, I never thought I will ever find the moral strength to tell myself that I am good enough to do it or that I am worthy of success and I’ve finally overcome that fear of mine! I believe that I can be the very very best I can be!!” You may not believe me but I started crying once I told her this vision of mine… : me, in a place filled with the world’s biggest artists, dressed in a long, fancy gown, listening to the Oscar-nominees for “Best script”. Then I hear “and the winner is….” and can’t actually understand anything until I hear a storm of applause around me, and the person next to me saying “What are you waiting for?! Get up there! Congratulations!”. And that’s when I stand up, get on the stage, receive the statue and face the public.. As I told my mother that, she gave me the biggest hug ever and told me “you know what?! You can do it! I know you can! I see it in you right now and this, your dream, is something that nobody will ever be able to take away from you.” I couldn’t believe my ears. My mother telling me that she is supporting me, not telling me that I’ve officially gone mad. I convinced her that that is exactly what I want! I WANT to be THE VERY BEST THAT I CAN BE and what I want is- to become a scriptwriter. But not just any script writer. I want my scripts to be the ones for the most successful movies, filled with a maximum amount of emotion. I have so many ideas day by day, I could make up a story right this instant and I promise you that you will like it and if I won’t finish telling you about it, you WILL ask me “and?! what happens next?!” And you know why I think that?! Because, now, I believe I am good enough!! Now I do believe I feel WONDERFUL! (My 19 year old sister called 10 minuteas ago and she asked me how I was and I said “GREAT! I feel GREAT!”) You made it happen! Thank you for that!!!

Well, sir, I think I wrote down pretty much the main things I wanted to say to you. Today you’ve received the love and respect from a young Romanian lady thanks to that course. I am sure that you’ve received the love and respect from many other students who were present, but I only speak on behalf of myself. Thank you! I just can’t thank you enough! Thank you so so much! I literally can’t wait for the next course!

And even though it will take a lot of courage, I will come to you and thank you in person because I have the feeling that this e-mail is a bad joke, compares to me saying “Thank you!”, while looking into your eyes. That’s an important part of communicating through body language, isn’t it?

Oh well… seems like I’ll have to end it here.. that’s all I wanted to say. I wish you the best of luck and a wonderful life because you really deserve it! The world needs people like you! Keep doing what you are doing because you’re doing it like no other!

Yours truly,

Lucretia”
